BENSENVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Delores "Dolly" Jefferson says she was just "being a good neighbor" when the 84-year-old Bensenville woman chased away a coyote that was threatening a dog.
The dog, an 11-year-old Egyptian Pharaoh Hound named Roxie, was attacked on Friday. Dolly saw the coyote bite the dog on the snout, so she screamed and chased the wild animal out of the yard.
"My son always told me to scream," she said. Rich Parent, Roxie's owner, is glad she did.
"She has marks on her head," Parent said of his dog. "She would not have made it had it not been for Dolly."
"It was scary," Jefferson said. "You do what you have to do."
Jefferson lives next door to Roxie and Parent.
