Man struck, killed after getting out of car on Dan Ryan identified by officials

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died after being struck after getting out of his vehicle on the Dan Ryan Expressway Tuesday morning, Illinois State Police said.

The incident occurred in the outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway near 95th Street.

The incident started as a crash involving a passenger vehicle that was struck by another vehicle which fled the scene, police said.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck stepped out of the vehicle and was struck by another vehicle, police said.

The man that was struck was transported to the hospital with injuries where he died, police said.

He was identified as Alassane Tohandikou, 47, by the medical examiner.

The driver that struck Tohandikou was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
