Body of woman recovered after car crashes into Tinley Park pond

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- The body of a 30-year-old woman was recovered after a car crashed into a Tinley Park pond Monday.

Village of Tinley Park officials said the crash happened at Vollmer Road and Odyssey Boulevard.

A car jumped the curb and ended up in the water. A bystander tried to get the driver out, but the car disappeared beneath the water quickly, officials said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene, where crews could be seen using a submersible to search for the person and car. Tuesday morning, Tinley Park officials said the woman's body was recovered.

What caused the driver to lose control was not immediately clear, but strong storms swept through the area earlier Monday.
