Broadway in Chicago to host free summer concert downtown

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Broadway In Chicago free summer concert is happening on Monday.

Millennium Park sets the stage for performances from a dozen musicals that are currently playing or will soon be at area theaters.

Here's what to expect from Broadway in Chicago's free summer concert Monday.

"MJ the Musical" returns to Chicago this week.

"Stereophonic" has 70s rock idols pumping up the volume.

Audiences can run away with the circus in "Water for Elephants."

"Parade" is playing in Chicago now. Summer concert attendees can get a sample of the Tony-winning revival for free.

"The Phantom of the Opera" makes a comeback in December.

Chicagoans can rush the holiday season with "Elf."

The Pritzker Pavilion will be alive with "The Sound of Music," before it opens in October.

"Suffs" is a tribute to American women fighting for the vote.

"Spamalot" humor endures in the classic.

"The Outsiders" struggle to "belong" in the Tony winner.

"The Great Gatsby": so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

"Hell's Kitchen" from Alicia Keys will be there, too. So, audiences don't have to wait until November when it opens to get fired up.
