Brookfield Zoo Chicago says goodbye to brown bear Axhi

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Brookfield Zoo Chicago has announced the death of a brown bear.

Axhi was a 31-year-old rescued bear that came to the zoo in 1995.

His health had been declining, and the zoo decided it would be best to euthanize him.

The bear came to the zoo after hunters killed his mother.

The zoo says Axhi loved diving underwater, food, and carefully building dens.
