1 seriously injured in Dan Ryan Expressway crash; Chatham ramp shut down

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A serious crash shut down a South Side ramp to the Dan Ryan Expressway on Saturday morning.

Illinois State Police said troopers responded to the crash at 76th Street in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood just before 4:45 p.m.

Video shows two mangled vehicles on the shoulder of the road. ISP said one vehicle reportedly left the scene of the crash.

One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, ISP said.

The 76th Street ramp to northbound Interstate 94 is closed.

What led up to the crash was not immediately clear. Officials did not immediately say when the ramp might reopen.
