Off-duty firefighters rescue 2 who fell through ice on suburban lake

UNINCORPORATED CARY, Ill. (WLS) -- Two off-duty firefighters rescued two fishermen who fell through the ice in the northwest suburbs on Tuesday.

It happened on Lake Killarney in unincorporated Cary around 4:30 p.m.

The two people had fallen about 50 to 75 feet from shore, officials said.

A third person, who tried to rescue the pair, also fell through, but they were able to get out of the water on their own.

All three are expected to be OK.
