Man killed in crash after SUV reported stolen in carjacking: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police said a vehicle was stolen in a carjacking minutes before a deadly crash on Tuesday.

The crash happened at about 11:28 p.m. in the 2800-block of West Van Buren Street.

Police said the driver of a silver SUV jumped a curb and crashed into a tree. The man died at the scene.

After further investigation, police said the silver SUV had been reported stolen in a carjacking at about 11:20 p.m. in the 4200-block of South Artesian Avenue.

There were no injuries reported in the carjacking.

No other information was available.
