Unmarked Chicago police squad car rammed in Douglass Park, 3 in custody, CPD says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An unmarked Chicago Police Department squad car was rammed Thursday evening on the city's West Side.

The incident happened around 8:46 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Ogden Avenue in Douglass Park, Chicago police said.

An unmarked CPD vehicle was driving with its emergency equipment activated behind a mini-van driven by a 27-year-old man, CPD said. The mini-van then stopped, reversed and hit the CPD vehicle, officials said.

The mini-van then stopped nearby in the 1600 block of South California Avenue Three suspects who attempted to flee on foot and were taken into custody, police said.

An assisting officer was hospitalized in fair condition after the incident after sustaining blunt trauma to their left leg, CPD said.

No further information was available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
