Dog stolen from blind owner on NW Side returned to owner: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Bam Bam the missing service dog, stolen in Logan Square, is back with his owner Wednesday.

Bam Bam he 14 year old dachshund was reportedly in his backyard near Monticello and Fullerton when two men took him on June 5.

Chicago police said the 14 year old Dachshund was dropped off Tuesday night by two people at the 16th District Station on the Northwest Side.

The dog appeared healthy and was reunited with his owner, who is blind.

Bam Bam Rescue Team

"After a long and emotional nearly three months, Angel has finally been reunited with Bam Bam. The reunion took place on the evening of August 19th, and both are now safely back together," the Bam Bam Rescue Team said in a statement.

PETA said it is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the safe return of Bam Bam. Community members raised $1,000 for the reward, making the total of $6,000.

The 14-year-old dog is microchipped, however, he was not wearing his collar when he was taken.

CPD said their investigation into the initial theft of the dog continues.
