72-year-old man seriously injured in South Side house fire: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 72-year-old man was seriously injured in a house fire Thursday morning, Chicago police said.

Chicago police and fire crews responded just before 6:30 a.m. to the 7700-block of Damen Avenue in Chicago's Gresham neighborhood for a reported fire.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition amid the fire, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident is currently classified as non-criminal - accidental, CPD said.

Chopper 7 captured firefighters using ladders to get access to the second floor of the house.
