71-year-old stabbed to death in Englewood, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 25-year-old Chicago man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of a 71-year-old man on the city's South Side over the weekend, Chicago police said Tuesday.

Darius Barney was arrested just after 12:40 a.m. Sunday in the 800-block of East 63rd Street, police said.

CPD said Barney had, less than 90 minutes earlier, fatally stabbed a 71-year-old man in the 100-block of West 63rd Street in Englewood.

The victim allegedly got into an argument with an unknown man, police said.

The man then allegedly attacked the victim and started to stab him, police said.

The victim was stabbed in the abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital where he died, according to police.

He has not yet been publicly identified.

Barney is due in court Tuesday.
