David Glockner's appointment needs the approval of City Council.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is appointing David Glockner, as the city's new inspector general.
The mayor's office says Glockner has lived in the city for more than 40 years. He is a former prosecutor and executive at Exelon.
"David Glockner is a seasoned public servant with the experience, independence, and integrity needed to serve as the City's watchdog and strengthen accountability across our operations," Johnson said in a statement. "I want to thank the Selection Committee for their faithful stewardship of this process and commitment to ensuring government is carried out ethically and effectively."
Former Inspector General Deborah Witzburg stepped down earlier this month.
The IG's office is responsible for investigating allegations of waste, fraud and abuse among city departments and workers.
Glockner's appointment needs the approval of City Council.
"The Office of the Inspector General plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of City government for the benefit of all Chicago residents," Glockner said in a statement. "I am grateful to Mayor Johnson and the members of the selection Committee for the nomination and look forward to the opportunity to work constructively with Mayor Johnson, the City Council, and the OIG's many other stakeholders to serve the City of Chicago."
