CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago police officer was among three people hospitalized after a serious downtown crash early Saturday morning.
A CPD squad car and a black Jeep collided near South Wabash Avenue and East Ida B. Wells Drive in the Loop. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage in the crash.
The Chicago Fire Department said three people were taken to hospitals in serious condition. One other person refused treatment.
ABC7 was on the scene when firefighters cut out the squad car's door in order to remove a police officer, who appeared to have been pinned inside of the vehicle.
Firefighters put the officer onto a stretcher and transported them to a hospital.
Officials did not immediately say what led up to the crash.
ABC7 reached out to CPD for more information but did not immediately hear back.
