1 charged after shots fired at 2 CPD squad cars on South Side: Chicago police
Suspect later crashed into parked cars, police said
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man has been charged after two Chicago police squad cars were shot at Monday morning on the South Side.
Police said at about 6:03 a.m. in the 7500-block of South Peoria Street, a male suspect fired shots at two marked squad cars, just blocks from a police station in Gresham. No officers were struck and they did not return fire, police said.

The suspect then fled the scene in a black Nissan SUV and officers were pursuing him when he crashed into two marked vehicles in the 7600-block of South Union Avenue, police said.
Police said Sedrick Griffin, 31, taken into custody after a short chase. , A weapon was recovered from the scene.
Griffin has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, four counts aggravated discharge firearm//vehicle, one count of possession of a firearm by a repeat felon offender, one felony count of felony possession of a weapon and one felony count of criminal damage to government property.
Griffin is expected to be in court Wednesday for a detention hearing.
