13-year-old boy shot in head, critically injured in South Chicago, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A teen boy was shot in the head and critically injured Thursday afternoon on the city's South Side.

The shooting happened around 2:50 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Coles Avenue in South Chicago, police said.

Officers responded to the scene and found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his head.

The victim was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, CPD said.

No further information was available as Chicago police continue to investigate.
