Deadly shooting leads to SWAT scene in South Austin: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A deadly shooting lead to a SWAT standoff on Chicago's West Side, according to police.

The shooting happened on Sunday at about 11:58 p.m. in the 4800-block of W. Superior Street, police said.

A woman, 35, and a man, 25, were outside when they got into an argument with a man.

The suspect then pulled out a gun and started to shoot.

The 25-year-old man was shot multiple times. He was taken to Stroger hospital where he died.

The woman was shot to the right flank. She was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

After the shooting, the suspect ran off into a nearby house, which initiated a SWAT response, police said.

The SWAT scene ended after police said the suspect turned himself in at the 15th District station.

The suspect was taken into custody; charges are pending.

Police said the victims and the suspect knew each other prior to the shooting.
