Tow truck driver crashes into vehicle, shoots windshield in River North: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A tow truck driver rear-ended another vehicle and shot at the car, hitting its windshield early Friday morning downtown Chicago, police said.

A 34-year-old woman was driving a gray Chevy SUV south in the 800-block of North La Salle Drive in River North about 3:50 a.m. near the tow truck, Chicago police said.

The tow truck driver crashed into the back of the SUV, and fired a shot at the SUV, hitting the front windshield, police said.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash and shooting.

The tow truck drove away, according to CPD.

No injuries were reported, and no one was in custody later Friday.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
