CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Tribune has signed a deal to buy the Daily Herald, a source told ABC7 Chicago on Thursday.

The Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald both confirmed the sale in articles published to their news websites Thursday evening.

The Paddock Publications Board of Directors voted to approve the sale, and closing is set for Friday, a message from the board provided by a source read.

The board's message also said "The Tribune is offering employment to all Daily Herald employees."
