Person dies after falling onto CTA tracks on Near North Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A person was killed after falling onto CTA tracks on the Near North Side Sunday afternoon, Chicago police said.

The death happened around 4:30 p.m. near North Avenue and North Sedgwick Street.

Officials said a female person, whose exact age was not known, came into contact with the third rail and died at the scene.

Kimball-bound Brown Line train service was delayed at Sedgwick for some time Sunday evening, the CTA said.

Chicago police are investigating.
