Jesse Jackson Jr. running for Congress again after fraud conviction

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Jesse Jackson Jr. will launch a run to return to his former seat in Congress, ABC7 learned on Tuesday evening.

A colleague confirmed that he will announce his campaign for Illinois' 2nd Congressional District seat Wednesday, which is the 84th birthday of his father, Rev. Jesse Jackson.

His brother is Congressman Jonathan Jackson, who is currently serving his second term representing Illinois' 1st Congressional District.

Jesse Jackson Jr. spent 17 months in prison after being convicted of charges related to the misuse of campaign funds.

ABC7 Political Analyst Laura Washington discussed the political move on Wednesday.
