Fired DuPage County jail officer charged with possessing images of child sex abuse, officials say

DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A DuPage County jail officer has been accused of possessing images of child sex abuse, officials said.

Steven Simmons of Lisle faces five felony counts of possessing child sex abuse images involving children ages 13 or younger.

According to a detention petition, his arrest followed tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The DuPage County Sheriff says Simmons has been fired from working at the jail.
