Person shot on I-88 in Maple Park, impacting traffic: officials

MAPLE PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- One person was shot on Interstate 88 in the far west suburbs on Monday afternoon, fire officials said.

The DeKalb Fire Department said the shooting happened near Keslinger Road in the Maple Park area.

The person struck by gunfire was transported to a hospital, the fire department said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene, where police could be seen investigating around 4 p.m.

Illinois State Police said all I-88 eastbound and westbound lanes were shut down near Keslinger.

Around 5 p.m., all eastbound lanes appeared to be open, but westbound lanes were still blocked.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

Officials did not immediately provide further information.
