Driver killed in head-on crash involving stolen car in Ingleside, sheriff says

INGLESIDE, Ill. (WLS) -- A driver died on Wednesday morning while driving a stolen car, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened at about 5 a.m. on Route 134 east of North Catherine Street, officials said.

The driver of a Honda sedan was driving westbound on Route 134, when he allegedly veered into the eastbound lanes and crashed head-on with a GMC work truck.

Chopper 7 was over the scene.

The driver of the Honda died at the scene.

The coroner identified the man as 27-year-old Joshua Rosendahl.

Sheriff deputies said the Honda was reported stolen from a gym in Fox Lake. The driver allegedly has an open bottle of whiskey in his lap at the time of the crash.

The driver of the GMC is a 44-year-old man from Johnsburg. He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.

Closures were in place as police investigated.
