PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man was caught on camera robbing a liquor store while the employee suffered a fatal cardiac arrest, Portland police said.
Last month, Jason Hay was working at Bins and Barrels Liquor Store when he went into cardiac arrest, police said.
Surveillance footage shows as a man pretends to help the 53-year-old but ends up abandoning Hay and steals about $800 from the store's safe.
Hay died after a week in the hospital.
"If my brother could see the video he would know that person by name and that's the heartbreaking part," sister Jessica Jones said.
The community joined to hold a vigil for Hay outside the liquor store.
He leaves behind his wife Melissa and their 15-year-old son.
"He was always very proud. I'm sad to say goodbye to him. But I'm happy that everyone here came and this is just a reminder of everything that he's done," Hay's son Ashten said.
Portland police are still looking for a suspect in the store robbery.
