CHICAGO (WLS) -- All outbound lanes are reopening this week, nearing the finish line of the three-year Kennedy Reconstruction Project, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
IDOT said all mainline lanes will reopen this week, putting the project on pace to finish before the Thanksgiving deadline, IDOT said.
The express lanes will remain open in the outbound direction while final work continues, IDOT said. There will be some overnight closures as crews work to reopen lanes.
To help workers safely reopen the lanes, the following overnight closures will take place:
-Wednesday, Oct. 1: At midnight, the express lanes will close and outbound lanes will be reduced to one lane between Damen and Diversey avenues. Intermittent ramp closures will begin at 9 p.m. By 5 a.m. all lanes will be fully reopened from Damen Avenue heading north.
-Thursday, Oct. 2: At midnight, the express lanes will close and the outbound Kennedy will be reduced to one lane between North and Damen avenues. Intermittent ramp closures will begin at 9 p.m. By 5 a.m. Friday, the lanes will be fully reopened from North Avenue heading north.
-Saturday, Oct. 4: At midnight, the express lanes will close and the outbound Kennedy will be reduced to one lane between Ohio/Ontario Street and North Avenue, with intermittent ramp closures beginning at 9 p.m.
By 10 a.m. Sunday, the entire stretch of the outbound Kennedy will be fully reopened, according to IDOT.
The outbound Kennedy ramps to Damen Avenue and to Augusta Boulevard/Milwaukee Avenue will reopen by Sunday.

And repairs to the Ohio and Ontario street bridges over the river will mean more closures.
On Sunday November 17, weather permitting, Ohio will be closed eastbound between the Kennedy and Orleans.
Starting Monday November 18, Ontario will close westbound between Orleans and the Kennedy.
