Man dies in Lawndale crash, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man died in a West Side crash on Friday afternoon, Chicago police said.

Police said the crash happened just before 2 p.m. in Lawndale. Chopper 7 was over the scene at South Sacramento Boulevard and West Arthington Street.

Police said a 42-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet sedan southbound on Sacramento Boulevard when she hit a Nissan SUV, driven by a 55-year-old man.

The man was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified him as Leon Jordan.

CPD's Major Accidents Unit is investigating.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
