Lincoln Park Zoo parts ways with beloved polar bear Siku

CHICAGO (WLS) -- After nearly a decade of living at Lincoln Park Zoo, Siku the polar bear is saying goodbye to Chicago.

The zoo announced that the 15-year-old old male polar bear will be moving to a zoo in Madison, Wisconsin.

"While we'll be sad to see him go, we're excited to see him embark on his next adventure-hopefully as a polar bear dad!," said curator Cassy Kutilek.

The zoo added that since his arrival in 2016, Siku became a fan favorite for visitors and staff alike, thanks to his playful nature.

Polar bear Talini will stay at Lincoln Park Zoo to receive specialized geriatric care.

Siku will be moving to Henry Vilas Zoo in the fall.
