Suspect allegedly shoots person at Munster, Indiana home, prompting SWAT response: police

MUNSTER, Ind. (WLS) -- A suspect allegedly shot a person at a northwest Indiana home, prompting a SWAT response on Saturday night, police said.

Munster police said officers responded to the 9300-block of Chestnut Lane around 9:45 p.m.

There, officers found a female who had been shot in the face. The victim, whose age was not immediately known, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspected shooter remained inside the home. Northwest Regional SWAT responded and negotiated with the suspect, who was taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Jail.

Police are investigating and said there is no threat to the public.
