Scammers using AI to create convincing fake delivery texts, emails

CHICAGO (WLS) -- If you scored deals during Prime Day, be on the lookout for scammers preying on your deliveries.

Security experts at Truecaller warn that fake delivery texts and emails surge after major shopping events as scammers try to cash in on the flood of online orders.

The messages may claim there's a problem with your delivery, a missed package, or that you need to pay a small fee before your order can be delivered.

Experts say AI is helping scammers create more convincing messages which are phishing for your info.

Never click on links in unexpected texts or emails or enter payment information.

Check your order status directly through Amazon, UPS, FedEx, or the retailer's official app.

Be suspicious of urgent messages demanding immediate action.
