Drive-by shooter injures 13-year-old boy in Portage Park, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A drive-by shooter injured a teenage boy on the city's Northwest Side on Monday evening, Chicago police said.

Police said officers responded to a call about a person shot in the Portage Park neighborhood's 6000-block of West Montrose Avenue just after 8 p.m.

A 13-year-old boy was outside when a dark-colored SUV passed him and someone inside fired shots, police said.

Police said the teen, shot in the leg, was transported to Lutheran General Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

Area Five detectives are investigating.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
