RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Zebulon, N.C., teenager accused of beating an obviously pregnant Raleigh woman with brass knuckles and kicking her in the stomach faced a judge at the Wake County Justice Center Thursday afternoon.
Kierra Hardy, 17, could face up to a year behind bars on three charges -- carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and battery of an unborn child.
Hardy was initially behind bars on a $6,000 bond.
The 21-year-old victim's aunt told WTVD-TV that the attack was "brutal."
She says it took place Wednesday in the parking lot of Wake County's health clinic after the victim's prenatal care appointment.
The aunt says the two women know each other, and there is bad blood between them.
The victim is recovering and apparently her baby is OK.
