Queen of Martyrs school in Evergreen Park will close due to declining enrollment: archdiocese

EVERGREEN PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A south suburban Catholic school is closing.

The Archdiocese of Chicago announced Queen of Martyrs in Evergreen Park will not reopen next school year.

In a letter to families, the archdiocese said many students were not planning to return and the enrollment level was not sustainable.

The school posted to Facebook, saying, "It is with great sadness that our school will be closing."

The archdiocese says it will announce options for families in the coming days.
