SHOREWOOD, Ill. (WLS) -- A 19-year-old south suburban man has been arrested after allegedly attacking his mother and trying to stab a police officer, Shorewood police said.
Shorewood police responded Thursday afternoon to a 911 call in the 200-block of South Ravinia Drive for a domestic battery in progress.
When officers arrived, they saw Ryan Dube of Shorewood hitting and pushing his mother to the ground, police said.
He had already slapped and punched her in the face and neck inside the home, according to police.
Dube's mother got out the front door, but Dube chased her while holding a knife, police said.

Officials said an officer tackled Dube, who swung a knife at the officer and tried to stab him.
Another officer was able to stop the attack, police said.
Dube was taken into custody.
The officer and Dube's mother were evaluated by paramedics on the scene for injuries.
Dube has been charged with aggravated assault and domestic battery.
He was taken to Will County Jail, pending a pre-trial release hearing.
