Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers hosting conference in Chicago next month

CHICAGO (WLS) -- To help grow fields related to science, technology, engineering and math, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers is hosting a special event next month geared for high school students.

The SHPE Jr. Conference will take place next month at Lindblom Math and Science Academy.

Rafael Diaz from SHPE at Illinois Institute of Technology, as well as two Lindblom students, Diego Diaz and Sophia Olivio, joined ABC7 Chicago to talk about it Tuesday.

They talked about the inspiration behind the conference and the impact it has on students.

The conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Dec. 6 at 6130 S. Wolcott Ave.
