No one in custody after suspect shoots at car, runs into South Shore home, prompting SWAT response
The suspect fired shots at an occupied vehicle before running into the residential building, police said.
CHICAGO (WLS) -- No one is in custody after a shooting suspect after ran into a South Side residential building on Monday afternoon, prompting a large SWAT and Chicago police response, CPD said.
Chicago police said a male suspect fired shots toward an occupied vehicle in the South Shore neighborhood's 7600-block of South Essex Avenue around 1:45 p.m.

The suspect then fled into a residential building near the Rebecca K. Crown Youth Center, police said.
Officers and SWAT responded and remained on the scene for hours.
CPD confirmed late Monday night that the SWAT situation had ended. No one was found in the building, and no one is in custody.
Area Two detectives are investigating.
Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
