Terrifying moment truck driver avoids crash as school bus appears to run red light, video shows

NEW ORLEANS -- Dash cam footage shows the heart-stopping moment a truck driver avoided crashing into a school bus.

It happened on Monday on US Route 61 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dashcam footage released by the truck driver, Shekinah Thornhill, shows the school bus appearing to run a red light before it stops in Thornhill's path.

Thornhill can be heard screaming as she stops the truck right before it could hit the school bus.

Instagram users praised Thornhill for braking so quickly, with one person calling her a "hero."

Storyful reached out to All About Kids Transportation and the New Orleans Police Department for comment on the incident, but has not heard back.
