Metra train hits truck in Wilmette, 2 passengers injured, officials say; UP-N line delayed

WILMETTE, Ill. (WLS) -- A Metra hit a vehicle Thursday afternoon in the north suburbs.

The crash is causing extensive delays on the Union Pacific North line, officials said.

UP-N train 337 hit a semi-truck near Linden Avenue and Green Bay Road in Wilmette.

Emergency crews responded to the scene. Two train passengers were injured, fire officials said.

The crossing at Linden Avenue was closed and UP-N inbound and outbound trains have been halted.

Metra commuters are being advised to find alternative routes.

There was no further information about the cause of the crash.
