Extensive Metra delays after UPNW train strikes car on Northwest Side, Metra says

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A UPNW Metra train hit a car on Chicago's Northwest Side on Thursday morning, Metra says.

Chopper 7 was over the scene at about 11:15 a.m. showing a black car with severe damage.

The scene was near Devon Avenue and Northwest Highway, video shows.

Metra said UPNW inbound and outbound train movement were halted.

All trains were back on the move by 12:50 p.m.

A woman, who was driving the car, was taken to Lutheran General, Metra said.

No other information was available.

In the west suburbs, a Metra Union Pacific line was disrupted Thursday morning after a person was hit by a freight train, Wheaton police said.
