Man shot to death inside vehicle in West Englewood, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was shot to death inside a vehicle on Chicago's South Side on Saturday evening, police said.

Police said officers responded to the West Englewood neighborhood's 5700-block of South Damen Avenue around 10:40 p.m.

There, officers found a 37-year-old man who had been shot in the arm and buttocks, police said.

The Chicago Fire Department treated the victim on the scene. He was transported in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

What led up to the shooting was not immediately clear.

Area One detectives are investigating.

Authorities did not immediately provide further information.
