Woman killed in hit-and-run crash on North Side; Chicago police suspect in custody

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was killed in a chain-reaction hit-and-run crash on Saturday night on Chicago's North Side, police said.

The crash happened at about 9:22 p.m. in the 1400-block of W. Irving Park Road, police said.

The victim, a 25-year-old woman, walked between two parked cars and onto the street when the crash happened.

She was struck by a male driver in a blue sedan, police said.

CPD said as the driver fled the scene and struck a dark-colored SUV, which caused a chain collision with a black car.

After the second crash, police said the driver of the dark-colored SUV chased the man driving the blue car.

Police said the driver then crashed into a tree and ran into a nearby building in the 4000 block of N. Ashland Avenue.

The 25-year-old woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she died.

CPD said the driver of the blue car was taken into custody.
