BURR RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) -- On July 27, hundreds re running in support of veterans. The inaugural Run for Veterans 5K Run/Walk is in suburban Burr Ridge. It raises money for Volunteers of America-Illinois.
Pauline Ozols, founder and race director of Run for Veterans, created the event to raise awareness and funds to support U.S. veterans' mental health care needs. Ozols joined us live from the site of the race during our ABC 7 Eyewitness News Sunday Morning to tell us about the cause. This year's event benefits Volunteers of America-Illinois, a non-profit organization that helps more than 250 veterans per year transition to a healthy mental state.
