New thrilling 'Skyslide' in Downtown LA to open this weekend in Los Angeles

A new observation deck near the very top of California's tallest building offers more than just incredible views, but a glass slide suspended on the outside of the building; 1,000 feet above street level.

The OUE Skyspace LA debuts June 25 inside the U.S. Bank Tower in downtown Los Angeles. The attraction offers 360-degree views of Los Angeles on the 69th and 70th floors, 2,800 square feet of open air observation decks, a restaurant and bar, and the big thrill: the Skyslide.

The Skyslide is an outdoor glass chute, made of 1-1/4-inch thick glass, and positioned 1,000 feet above downtown Los Angeles where thrill-seekers can experience sliding off the side of a skyscraper. Guests sit on a rug that's wrapped around their knees to reduce friction and gain incredible speed as they travel from the 70th to 69th floor in the fastest way possible.

ABC was granted permission to try out the Skyslide before its official debut, and the slide lives up to its hype. The only downside is the hard stop on a crash mat on the floor below where many sliders experienced a less-than-graceful. This is exacerbated by the fact that many sliders tried to record the event on their phones, and were not able to properly catch themselves during the hard landing. Our recommendation is to keep your hands free by any means necessary.

Another noteworthy attraction worth checking on at the OUE Skyspace LA is the interactive exhibit on the 54th floor. Among the awe-inspiring infinity mirror and interactive silhouette wall, guests can witness a 360-degree digital topography wall displaying many beautiful landscapes in an immersive experience.
