Man leads police on slow speed tractor chase, tries to mow down vehicles

DECATUR, IN -- Cruiser cam video has been released after a two hour slow speed chase between four law enforcement agencies, and a farm tractor.

The case topped out at speeds of 20 miles per hour, but it included some frenzied calls from deputies to dispatchers, after the driver allegedly tried to run them over.

"He just tried to run me over! Stop sticks are deployed!" yelled a Mercer County, Ohio deputy during the pursuit.

Police say they started chasing Dustin Clouse, 20, after he hit cars and did property damage in Decatur, Indiana. Once he crossed state lines, Mercer County Sheriff and Ohio Highway Patrol joined Decatur Police and the Adams County, Indiana Sheriff's Office.

"Affirmative they are southbound on 33 at approximately 20 miles an hour. So he has rammed another officers vehicle," said a dispatcher during the pursuit.

The cruiser cam shows the chase through rural Western Ohio.

Officers told dispatchers they tried to get Clouse to stop the tractor by talking to him over their loudspeakers. He didn't comply, so officers put down stop sticks multiple times to pop his tires.

"Central I deployed them. He did hit them, he did try to run me over he swerved at me!" a deputy called in to dispatch, "His right front tire is blown. Good."

Clouse was able to plow through the strips with just minor damage. He went on to attempt to ram a cruiser from the back, then swerved to swipe another cruiser.

"Sticks have not worked. We're gunna try to back off. He's trying to ram every vehicle he's coming close to," a deputy said.

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office says Clouse finally pulled the tractor over because of mechanical problems.

Officers immediately ran up to the vehicle and attempted to talk Clouse down from the driver's seat, but he didn't go quietly and had to be tased.

He was arrested for fleeing and eluding, and his bail set at $250,000.
