The hits keep coming for the Chicago Bulls.
Portis, who had been coming off the bench at forward, suffered the injury in the Bulls' 96-93 loss to the Nets on Wednesday night. He had been back only five games after missing nearly seven weeks with a sprained MCL.
Coach Jim Boylen has said he liked the game of rookie Chandler Hutchison, who comes off the bench at small forward and could slide into the backup-forward role left vacant by Portis.
Jabari Parker, who has fallen out of the rotation and whom the Bulls are looking to trade, also could be an option.
The Bulls are also without Denzel Valentine, who had ankle-stabilization surgery earlier this year and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
