Chicago Bulls center Omer Asik is out indefinitely with inflammatory arthritis, the team announced Saturday.
The 7-foot Asik has been receiving ongoing medical treatment and management, but his return to basketball activities has yet to be determined.
The Bulls acquired Asik, 32, as part of the trade that sent forward Nikola Mirotic to the New Orleans Pelicans in February. He averaged 1.2 points and 2.6 rebounds last season and has career averages of 5.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in his eight seasons.
