Chicago Cubs' David Bote suffered dislocated shoulder on slide vs. Cincinnati Reds

Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote has been placed on the 10-day injured list after he suffered a dislocated left shoulder running the bases Saturday.

Bote was injured sliding into second base during Saturday's 10-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds and had to be helped off the field.

In corresponding moves, the Cubs called up infielder Sergio Alcantara from Triple-A Iowa and designated right-hander Tyson Miller for assignment.

The Cubs have been hit hard by injuries this month, especially among their position players. Infielders Matt Duffy and Nico Hoerner and outfielders Jake Marisnick and Jason Heyward have been placed on the 10-day injured list since May 10. First baseman Anthony Rizzo has been sidelined by back trouble.

Bote, 28, is batting .194 with five homers and 23 RBIs in 50 games. Alcantara, 24, hit .143 with one home run and one RBI in 10 games for the Detroit Tigers last season.
