White Sox activate Tim Anderson (groin) from injured list

DETROIT -- The Chicago White Sox have reinstated shortstop Tim Anderson from the injured list and put infielder Leury Garcia on the IL because of a sprained left thumb.

Garcia appeared to be hurt after he slid into first base in Monday's game at Detroit. He stayed in the game as a runner but was replaced defensively.

Anderson had been out because of a strained right groin. He was in the starting lineup batting leadoff Tuesday against the Tigers and finished 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

Anderson, the major league batting leader in 2019, was hitting .324 after's night's 8-4 win.
