St. Paddy's Day Run/Walk fundraises for Greater Chicago Food Depository

CHICAGO (WLS) -- It's a sign of spring: the annual St. Paddy's Day 5K and 8K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, March 14. This year, the run is raising money and donations for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

The Food Depository, founded in 1979, makes a daily impact across Cook County with a network of 650 pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, mobile programs, children's programs, older adult programs and innovative responses that address the root causes of hunger. Last year, the Food Depository distributed 66 million pounds of shelf-stable food, fresh produce, dairy products and meat, the equivalent of 150,000 meals every day.

We joined Dan O'Donnell from Endurance Events and Dave Mazza of the Greater Chicago Food Depository live at the starting line in Lincoln Park.
