Man charged in violent Lansing kidnapping

LANSING, Ill. (WLS) -- The FBI has charged Carleous Clay with one federal count of kidnapping. Investigators say he attacked a woman at her Lansing home.

The criminal complaint against Clay says he used a hammer as his weapon when the victim interrupted a burglary at her home. According to the complaint, he forced the victim into the trunk of her car and then drove to Munster, Ind., where he was captured on bank surveillance video on two ATM machines.

Clay was arrested in Holland, Mich., Sunday. The victim remains hospitalized.
